avaL was an adults-only movie of the early seventies (actually it is a good movie with no bad "adult" content). veNNiRa Adai Nirmala gave a powerful performance in the movie. In the movie, her husband (Sasikumar) who is heavily into drinking habits, forces veNNiRa Adai Nirmala also to take to drinking in parties. But she keeps resisting. Finally, unable to tolerate her husband's persistent forcing, she takes up drinking in one party. She sings this song in this situation. P. Susheela conveys the situation beautifully through her singing. The singing has the heroine starting in a normal state and moving on to a "totally drunk" state at the end. Throughout the song I like the way the word "naan" is nicely twisted and sung. A very very good song.
